ACEO
If this one looks familiar, it's because I had done this one about two weeks ago, but had the background in white at the time. So today I decided it needed more punch, and proceeded to paint in the background with black india ink. Let me tell you, this sounds a lot easier than it is!
The drawing was done with a .01 permanent ink pen and a few light brown washes were added to the tree. That was a walk in the park compared to painting all the white surfaces with a #2 watercolor brush today and the ink! My eyeballs are bleeding! I don't know how people who paint miniatures can handle painting in such minute detail. Quite frankly, I don't know that I could do this type of detailing on every single painting I made or I would become suicidal.

The good news for Friday was that Shawn's camera got semi-fixed...at least good enough to finish our photo shoot. Apparently there was some sand that had gotten inside the camera. :(
I was checking out digital cameras again today...just in case. Nikon now has a 7.0 mega-pixel selling for $280 in Best Buy. I nearly croaked. Such a deal! Unfortunately, this special sale ends in 2 days. I just don't have the budget to make a purchase like that right now...
This is a shot of one of the card racks that I will have in my canopy this weekend. I have over 100 art cards for the show.
Surprise!
I was not at all prepared to have 2 of my new Florida paintings sell last night on eBay. I had completely forgotten that they were even in my store and was planning to take them with me to next weekend's art show.
This means that I was up at 6:30 am this morning working wildly to get 2 more large paintings started so that I will have enough to do my show. Set up is on Friday, so I am running out of time very quickly. These sales, while very exciting, threw a monkey-wrench into my plans to complete several smaller Florida paintings today. It simply means working more hours over the next several days in order to get caught up again.
I can't wait until this show is over...I'm always suffering badly prior to these shows. I have tried to figure out what happens...don't know if it's stage fright or what, but I HATE doing them. My stomach is in knots for days prior to every one of them...no matter how far in advance I begin preparations. The only part of this one that I am looking forward to is the new Florida pieces being introduced along with an entire inventory of ACEOs. So far I have not seen anyone carrying ACEOs or ATCs at the art shows...miniature art, yes. All framed up very nicely and priced much higher than my art cards will be, too.
This will definately add some interest to the upcoming show as I hope it will affect the buying public in a positive manner. Okay, that last coat is dry now and I must return to slinging the paint!
More Florida paintings

These 2 are 11 x 17" on Bristol paper. Don't fit on my scanner, so these are only partial views.
I was throwing away some of my old journals last week and shredded the papers up so that no incriminating evidence could ever be discovered. Several of my old journals had been written on black paper with colored ink gel pens, and the shredded scraps were so beautiful that I HAD to use them as collage pieces. They make very cute little palm trees!
Doodles 73 & 74

I'm working feverishly to get my ACEO inventory built up prior to next week's art show, so I made a couple of extra snowmen. Trying different colors on them this time around.
More Doodles

I have completed 2 more Floridian pieces,as well, but since they are 2' x 2' in size, I can't even get a partial scan. They are done on hardboard and it won't work on my scanner, so until they get photographed, I can't show them here in the blog. I was planning to have a photo shoot with Shawn, my son, today, but he was unable to meet up with me. Hopefully, we can get this done soon because I am excited about showing off my new Floridian works in their entirety.
