YouTube Channel

So far we have received 8 video responses on our Win a FREE Pet Portrait Contest, and over 430 views already. I'm so relieved!!! I was concerned that it was going to be a complete and utter bust.

Luckily, several of my eBay artist pals have jumped in and posted their videos, comments, etc and helped to move this Contest along. The support and help that I get from these eBay artists in my groups is truly heartwarming. That's why it's a passion for me to get as much attention from the outside world over to the eBay artist community as possible.

I realize that some folks think I'm a goober for doing so much work to help market these folks, but what the cynics don't realize is that it has ALWAYS been one of my goals to help other artists and to increase worldwide interest upon the arts and artists. Thus, this YouTube opportunity is the pefect venue for me.

I'm soooooo lucky to have stumbled upon this technical marvel and figure out how to use it. I'm still searching for more ways to make it BOOM on the Channel in YouTube and get thousands upon thousands of subscribers and viewers in there looking for art and artists. The talent in eBay is remarkable and although some folks sneer at the artists and art community there (the famous Art Snots), one day this forum will be THE place to go to find artwork.

Straight to the artists....no middlemen involved, see. Perhaps that is why some of the art critics and gallery owners have such disdain for eBay artists. I have no idea, but normally the WHY for most things involves money somehow or other. Not that gallery owners should be completely cut from the picture LOL, but they shouldn't be sneering at the self-representing artists, either.

Well, I have been tagged on one of these chain letter type thingies that is moving thru the art community on the blog system. Ellen Leigh...thank you. lol Will I do it and list out 7 facts about myself and then tag 7 other artists??? Who knows.............at least I didn't receive any dire threats that my life would end in 24 hours if I didn't pass it along. Man, don't you just hate THOSE chain letters? This one is a nice one.

Win a FREE Pet Portrait Contest

Yesterday I started another YouTube contest. This one involves having people respond with a video to my video by the above name. Since this is a holiday weekend, we have only had 4 responses so far, but the video has had over 200 views...so I'm expecting more videos to appear in the next few days.

The traffic to this video today has at least garnished the following honors:
#74 - Most Viewed (Today) - Pets & Animals - All
#12 - Top Rated (Today) - Pets & Animals - All
#11 - Top Rated (Today) - Pets & Animals - English
#24 - Most Discussed (Today) - Pets & Animals - All
#22 - Most Discussed (Today) - Pets & Animals - English
#10 - Top Favorites (Today) - Pets & Animals - All
#8 - Top Favorites (Today) - Pets & Animals - English
#79 - Most Responded (Today) - All

Surprised the heck out of me! I know that tomorrow all that will change as the numbers of views change. Unless I get piles of traffic in there tomorrow...the video will slide down in the ratings.

At any rate, this video is the first step in my latest plan to bridge the gap between YouTube and eBay. Every week more and more eBay artists are making and posting videos on YouTube and that's so cool and exciting! This Pet Portrait contest ends on Saturday June 2, 2007.

Then we move on to the next step of the overall plan and I will be posting about that later this week. So stay tuned!

Win a FREE painting !!!

I started a new contest today on YouTube which you can find here. I've been in YT poking around and looking at what some of the youngsters have been doing...the artist youngsters.

These kids are BRILLIANT! Not only are they techno geeks with amazing computer saavy, but they also network and generate humongous amounts of traffic thru their YouTube videos and Channels. Today I stumbled upon another young gal who has something like 15,000 subscribers to her videos...OMG!!!

Allright, so she's a 20-something-year-old cute-as-a-button gal, but aside from that she has a tremendous following. She even won a YouTube award or something back in March...at least she was entered into their awards category. I don't know that she WON anything. But for god's sake...that's an artist's dream, isn't it...attract attention to your artwork?

Between what she is doing and what some of the other YT youngsters are generating, I decided it was time for me to take the big leap and have my very own contest, as well. I figure that two things will happen from this: 1) I will get more of the eBay artist community to JOIN YouTube and I will 2) get more subscribers to my Channel.

Since the only way that you can enter this contest is by subscribing to my Channel...that should make a difference. I have already received 3 new subscribers in less than an hour. I posted links to this video in about 20-25 eBay groups in order to get some movement from that end. I'll be posting the link in here and on MySpace.

I'm sure I can come up with some other ideas, too, on how to successfully market this contest and gain more attention to my artwork. And all of this information will, as usual, be passed on to you, dear reader.

Goofballs On Parade

I had myself in tears today while looking thru some old photo albums...the laughing kind of tears...the LOL tears. That is one thing that I can credit my family for--the sensahuma! We have spent many, many hours laughing until we ached.

I enjoyed looking at these old photos so much that I made a video. This is by no means the entire collection of humorous shots, but these all made me LOL so I thought they should be compiled and enjoyed by others. I'm going to send the video link to some family and friends so they can chuckle along with me as the memories come flooding back..........

Eye See You

Another abstract painting. It's a 2 foot by 2 foot painting on masonite board that was first coated with thick Gesso so that there is lots of texture on the surface of this piece. Then various colors of acrylic paint was layered on top of that in blues, fuschias, bronze, copper, black, and finally white and grey. I think there is some yellow in there someplace, as well.

The actual texture of this painting doesn't show up well in the photo, but that's the case with all paintings.

I just had the realization today that none of my pictures exist in my comuter anymore! All my files were on that old hard drive that went kaput this week. I had some backed up on cds, but most of them weren't. Well, if Shawn can get the information off of that hard drive, fine. If not, it's no real biggie. I'll be making more paintings in the future anyhow.

I'm not really doing any prints or giclees at this point, so those 300-400 images won't really be missed, in truth. The ones that I had scanned professionally are on file, and those are the most important ones. It isn't as if I have any MASTERPIECES that were lost or anything.

Several years ago I was possessed with preserving every single painting that I did and went to great lengths and expense to ensure that each one was preserved somehow. Now I could care less. LOL

Bettie Page Mermaid Video

Here is yet another steamy, sexy, siren video by the kids at the eBay Mermaids and Sea Gods group. These people continue to amaze me with their talents!!!

Bettie Page was all the rage about 50 or so years ago. But not known by many people because she was so controversial...stripping and doing things that were not quite acceptable back then. I have posted some photos of her in here as well as the video link. This way you can see for yourself how well these 9 artists captured Bettie's essence.
