We had a total of 162 pet/animal videos entered in the last contest on YouTube, if you can believe that! Very impressive response this time. Previously our highest had been 28 videos entered, so I'm thoroughly pleased with the results.
The winner of the contest is Chibudgielvr with her Funny Cats video which she has been working on for years. She said she has been compiling footage of her cats over a long period of time and put this video together in July of this year. It features 10 different cats and 3-4 of them are hers. All 3 of the judges chose Chi's video as the overall winner, so I was happy that we had a unanimous decision.
One of my judges will be replaced before the end of Pet Video Contest #5 as she is planning to enter the contest herself. So if you are reading this, and you would like to be a judge, just let me know. You will NOT have to review ALL the entries! I have it set up so that the final 3 judges only have to watch 5 videos before making their decision.
There are other judges involved that watch part or all of the videos and then list out their favorites and from that and my own viewing, we come up with the Final Five. Only the first place finisher actually gets artwork. And I'm having difficulty keeping up with that right at the moment! But I will get it done........
Here are the standings for the Final Five overall on this contest:
1. Chibudgielvr for Funny Cats
2. The Bunny Movie by Zacheh
3. Bean Does A Stupid Pet Trick by Boombella
4. Arwen The Amazing Rat by LottieCrushed Velvet
5. Cat Chooses Next President by Britethorn.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of you for some wonderful videos! Stay tuned for the next contest which will begin this coming weekend.................
Edith Kallay
My friend, Edith, recently began taking art lessons and this girl shines like a bright star! Yesterday I made a video for her which you can see here. This is but a small sampling of the work that she has done in a very short period of time.
She puts me to shame! I'm totally proud of Edith and what she has been able to accomplish so rapidly. I've known Edith for 4 years and never had any idea of the talent that she possessed, but I should have guessed when she jumped at the chance to take me to the Chicago Fine Art Museum. Only people that possess some talent and a huge interest in the arts would even want to visit such a place.
We had the coolest day that day and it's one that I will NEVER forget. Edith has been a totally sweet and wonderful person to me in the 4 years that we have known each other. It was a lucky day for me that we met........
We are seriously kicking some butt on this latest in the series of Pet Video Contests on YouTube. The third one was rather slow and didn't get nearly the response of the #2 contest, so this time I have worked very diligently to network in YouTube for the past couple weeks and make sure that word gets out about this contest.
Other people seem to think these pet video contests are a good idea as they have begun to spring up in the YouTube Pets & Animals category recently. I saw 3 other ones in there this past weekend.
In the first 30 hours of this contest, there are already 60 videos that have been entered in the contest and nearly 700 views of the video. So all of my networking has been paying off and I plan to continue doing a lot more of it, rather than focusing so much time and energy into the eBay groups where I get next to no response at all. Sorry folks, but that doesn't cut it anymore for me! I've been working way too hard and too long for mediocre results and apathetic responses.
Times a wastin'! Lets have some action!
Painting Tambone

This portrait has become quite an undertaking. My original idea was to make a cartoonish drawing/rendering for this gal, but as I proceeded it took on a life of its own. I've still been unable to make it look like her, but at this point I'm happy that I have learned a lot from doing the oil. This isn't a commissioned piece, so I don't have to continue fiddle farting around with it much longer, thank god.............
Using a palette knife has been an interesting experience, too. I like the effects that I can create by using it as it gives the painting a looseness that I can't easily achieve with a brush. Can't say that I will NEVER do another portrait, because I can always change my mind in the future. But I can say that I won't be jumping up and down with excitement about doing another one. LOL
