How much longer can I fiddle around with this???
I promised myself that I would get the next Pet Video Contest started this weekend. So I pulled out my trusty little RCA Small Wonder camera and shot a test video.
Then I promptly forgot what to do to convert it into a usable format on my new Mac. Called my son, who gave me the Mac for Christmas. He had to refresh my memory a tad because I never took notes on how to use it.
This all requires a whole new set of events to create a video in my iMovie program now.The Small Wonder isn't compatible with the Mac, see. I have to go to another website online to convert the movie into a .mov format in order to then download it into my iPhoto program and THEN move it into my iMovie program. Are you kidding me?
I fiddled around with the test movie this weekend and couldn't do the things that I wanted to do, in spite of having watched the tutorials twice over already. So that was the end of that project. Over before it began.
I will give it another whack later this week, MAYBE. People are still asking me when the next contest will begin, and I'm sure some of them have given up on me entirely. When it comes to this technical stuff, I give up very easily. After I do enough screaming and swearing, that is.
Maybe I should simply do a video without all of the fancy editing that I want to do and just get the contest started. But the other thing is that I have 3 commissioned pieces to create now, too, and add to that another painting/drawing for a winner of the next contest and it's a bit much for me to handle. The commissions HAVE to come first!

Jake
Allie's buddy, Jake, is the star of this ACEO. This is a watercolor and pen and ink creation. My friend, Coleen, had dressed up Allie her rescue Poodle first and shot about 10 photos of her. "Not to be out done, Jake comes up and he gets the scarf and glasses and just to do something different, he lifts his front foot in a bit of a bow. I wasn't ready for the action and smeared that shot, unfortunately. He wanted to be included so there he is." She did manage to get other shots of Jake, though. And my artwork is based upon one of them.
Allie Allie Oxen Free
This little gal belongs to my good friends who own more of my artwork than anyone else in the world. Her name is Allie Allie Oxen Free and she is a rescue poodle that they took into their home last fall.
Coleen tells the story of the photo this way: "I threw my scarf around her neck and put my glasses on her and she sat there. So I shot--she didn't budge, flash and all. Keep in mind she is a bit skittery for some reason--based on a bad past we guess. She just sat there.
"I said 'Think of something' and she changed her pose to a side view. I shot. I said 'Think of something else' and she changed her pose again. It goes on for ten shots. We were suppressing hysterics so we would not startle her."
As you can see, they had a ball for the holiday season and included photos of their two buddies, Allie and Jake, in with their card. This ACEO that I have created based upon Allie's photo, is done with mixed media. Pastels, colored pencils and pen and ink.
Jake is next...
Incredible Super Bowl 42
This was the best Super Bowl I have seen in 20 years. Last time was the 49ers, led by Joe Montana. Most of the games are not at all close, but tonite's game was a complete and unexpected upset.
No one predicted this outcome for tonite's game. At least not in the media. It was Patriots 100% of the time. I wasn't really rooting for either side, but only hoped it would have some excitement attached to it. I was not disappointed...it was a great game. Well done, Giants!
